Change of Scene! New Blog! New Name!

Hey guys big news! Dallas in Focus is joining up with f8studio in Dallas - f8studio is an awesome wedding photography group that has been one of the top dogs in wedding photography for quite some time. I am joining them starting Monday and so operations as Dallas in Focus will be winding down.

What does this mean you ask?

Well, I’ve got a new studio in Addison Circle so that is pretty cool and you should come check out!

I’ll still be photographing awesome weddings!

I’ll just be posting those weddings and advertising under my new name… So if you guys follow this site regularly you should change your bookmarks to www.f8studioblog.com

I’ll be posting there often and can’t wait to move into this new exciting period of life. Should be fun!

Destination Wedding - Mary Beth and Jeff - Beaver Creek Colorado

This was a really great destination wedding so I’m really excited to show it to you! I realize the name of my company has the word Dallas in it, but that doesn’t mean that I don’t shoot outside of the city limits Mary Beth and Jeff held their wedding in Beaver Creek Colorado. Their ceremony was at Vista at Arrowhead and their reception was held at the Osprey Hotel at Beaver Creek. The weather was beautiful and it was amazing how many connections I had to the couple that we didn’t realize until I got there for the rehearsal dinner - We share long time friends, Jeff’s mother works with a dear friend and recent bride, and we have even lived on the same street in Dallas! I hope you guys enjoy these pictures, and I’ll have more for you soon.

Sam and Keith - Houston Wedding Preview

I just can’t resist posting a few pictures from Sam and Keith’s wedding I shot in Houston this last Saturday - The ceremony was at Chapelwood United Methodist Church and the reception was at Pine Forest Country Club. Both venues were great and I loved the light I got to play with all day - It really made for some great photos. Sam was a bridesmaid in two of my previous weddings so it was so great to see her again - Plus a few of her bridesmaids had been around the previous weddings as well, so it was nice to see some familiar faces.

Alright so this is just a preview… I’ll have a full blog post up in a couple of weeks - so stay tuned…

Natalie and Jordan - Tribute wedding in The Colony Texas!

It’s always fun to shoot out at the Tribute Golf Course in the Colony - but honestly I’m not sure I’ve ever shot such a rowdy, fun and energetic crowd - I have one word that sums up their party - Segway. Yes they had a segway on the dance-floor, zooming through the reception and down the halls of the Tribute. I thought I could say I had seen it all, but I was wrong.

The ceremony was beautiful, the bridal party was fun, the reception was outragous. Great wedding!

Thanks guys for making my holiday weekend a fun one!

Brookhaven Wedding - Amanda and Lee!

I met a Amanda a while back when she was a bridesmaid in Brielle’s wedding at Denton Bible last year, and I was so happy when she contacted me to shoot her wedding this year. Amanda and Lee began as friends, but eventually that friendship turned into something more, and now it is so evident that they think the world of each other. Both are so pleasant to work with and be around and their friends and family are the same way. I’m continually amazed out how cool my couples always end up being.. For whatever reason I must just attract really kind, pleasant people! What a relief that is!!

Anyway here are some of my favorite pictures from the wedding day - Their ceremony was held at the Carrollton Church of the Nazarene and the reception was at Brookhaven Country Club.

Dallas Engagement pictures - John and Allison

Last week I got to spend time with my good friends John and Allison and take some engagement photos for them - I’ll be shooting their wedding at the Mckinney Cotton Mill in a few weeks too! We started out at Royal Lane Baptist church then headed to a local watering hole where they had their first date. Then to wrap things up we took some pictures by White Rock Lake. It’s always fun shooting engagements, but this was especially fun since I know them so well - It’s interesting to see how couples behave differently in “alone” time (well nearly alone… I was there taking pictures). Almost always at the beginning of engagement sessions they start out a little stiff but by the end of I get to see what they are like with their guard down. Those are the times I really like, because the pictures reflect more truly who they really are as a couple. I think in this case the beer helped them relax as well… maybe I should schedule a beer stop in all my shoots?

Home Grown Peaches!

Last year when Whitney and I finally decided on a home we wanted to buy, we were so thrilled to find out we had several tree’s that produced tasty treats! Last fall we enjoyed delicious pears! This fall I’m hoping for a great pecan crop… Our Figs are riping up quite nicely… but the thing I’ve been most excited about is peaches!

We got home from our recent trip to Colorado to find our tree loaded to the ground with sweet ripe peaches… So far whit has made a lot of preserves, and I think Ice cream is next!

I absolutely loved shooting this wedding! It was so full of emotion, and warm happy people! Plus I got to shoot with my good friend and fellow photographer Ashley Langford - www.ashleylangford.com - The beautiful catholic ceremony was held in Carrollton at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church and the reception was at Coyote Ridge Country Club. I’m going to be honest… I’m pretty much in love with this wedding and that might explain why I’m posting so many photos - I was pretty excited when Brit was referred by not one but TWO of my past brides (Mandi and Meghan) but to top it off I once again got the privilege to work with wedding coordinator/planner Wendy Kidd at Each and Every Detail!

Brit and Andy decided to have their wedding at the Old Red Museum in Downtown Dallas - and while it was my first chance to shoot there I for sure hope it wont be my last!

Heidi and Gerald are funny - really funny! They are such happy, interesting people and I’m so honored that they allowed me to be their photographer. Their wedding was held at the Hilton Lincoln Center in Dallas and was a very thoughtful and beautiful event. Every tradition was laced with a part of their own personality and the wedding really seemed like it was their own. I always love shooting weddings where people enjoy the day and have fun, and they certainly didn’t disappoint. Below are just a few of my many many favorites - Man it was hard to whittle this down to a reasonable number to blog!

Dallas Senior Portraits - Samantha

A few months ago I shot some senior portraits for one of Samantha’s classmates, so I was thrilled when her and a couple of her friends wanted me to do the same for them. We picked a really pretty day in Dallas and went out and got some great stuff. All three of seniors had a great sense of style and seemed so confident just being themselves.

I’ve been doing more portraits lately and it something that I’m so happy about… I honestly believe that everyone deserves a great picture of themselves and it is so rewarding to be able to be involved in that…

Jonathan and Monica - Engaged!

A couple of weeks ago I photographed engagement photos for Jonathan and Monica in Dallas - They are planning their wedding from afar so it was nice to get a little face time with them and chat about the upcoming wedding. Lately Texas weather has been phenomenal but honestly we couldn’t have asked for a better day to go out roaming for cool photos. I hope you guys enjoy them and I’ll see you in a little over a month!
