Meet Cecelia

Three months ago I had the really incredible opportunity to document the birth of Cecelia Allen. Her parents, Jessica and Josh, asked me to be a part of the birth and I was so honored, scared and nervous, but honored.

After talking through the details of what they wanted and explaining to them how I felt I would want to shoot the birth, I agreed to try my absolute best to be there. They knew that I couldn’t leave a wedding, but I assured them that with the exception of a wedding I would make being present from beginning to end for the birth of their child my top priority.

The night of the birth I got a call from an amazingly calm Jessica that tonight was the night. Luckily the call came at about 2am on Sunday morning so my schedule was pretty clear :)

I jumped out of bed, got ready, and headed to the center. From the moment I pulled up I set my focus on capturing this momentous occasion as best I could so that this family could have a record of one of the best days of their lives. The slide show below is what I gave to them so that they can remember the night.

(make sure your volume is up - There is natural sound mixed in throughout the show)

Last night, my wife Whitney and I had dinner with the Allens and I took a few pictures of now three-month-old Cece.

March 5, 2009 - 1:06 pm Jessica Allen - Carter, you never fail to amaze me! Thanks for sharing. I'm so proud of it and can't thank you enough for capturing this so perfectly. I'm so grateful to have something so beautiful to keep the memory alive. I can't believe it's already been 3 months! LOVE the pictures!

March 5, 2009 - 9:00 pm "Nanni" Williams - This is my 5th grandbaby and I want to express my gratitude to Carter for his professional magical eye to be able to catch this so very, very special day in daughter's life. The video makes me cry each and everytime I see it and I always see something different when I view it. I love Carter. He is my new angel. Bernadette "Nannie" Williams Cece's favorite grandmother

March 5, 2009 - 11:37 pm Angela Bolls - I'm moved to tears everytime I see the slideshow! The pictures and sound allow those who couldn't be there, which was Everyone, to not just share their experience but to feel it. A baby's birth is always a miracle and these pictures depict Cecelia's Big Debute as just that, a miracle. At the same time you captured the joy and celebration when Jessica and Josh became Mommy and Daddy. Thank you, Cecelia's Ridiculously Proud Aunt, Angela

March 6, 2009 - 4:18 am "Nanni" Williams - As mother to Jessie and grandmother "Nannie" to Cecelia, the photographical capture of Jessie and Josh's firstborn was full of grace, and beauty, and awe of the miracle that God gives us unworthy humans. Thank you from the bottom of my heart that you were there in that moment to immortalize in pictures and beautiful music such a gift to this precious young couple. I wish you, Carter, many, many such wonderful life moments that you can capture as you truly are GIFTED and, in my eyes, a master of the craft of photojournaling. I honor you and hope you know that with your photos you have given so many of our family so many wonderful, priceless memories. Your friend and admirer, Bernadette Williams
